One of the ways some people spread propaganda – and get you to do it for them – is to boldface lie. For example, a few months ago, there was the rumor going around (that many were treating as fact) that “Democrats are proposing full-birth abortion bills.” Well, there’s no such thing as full birth abortion – which is basically killing a baby the same day you would deliver it. But the more I say, “full-birth abortion doesn’t exist,” the more I stick the words “full-birth abortion” in your mind. And if “ full-birth abortion “ is what sticks in everyone’s mind, that’s all anyone will remember, and they will link it to Democrats. I even talked to some progressive pro-choice people that thought that this was a real thing.
Here’s a local example. Recently, we had a vote to keep property taxes the same to support local public schools. There were people who said we were voting on a tax increase, which was a blatant lie. But if I go around saying “it’s not a tax increase, it’s not a tax increase,” guess what you remember? The words “tax increase”.
In this way people can get liberals and Democrats to spread propaganda. They are evil geniuses.
But this isn’t anything new. If you want a more in-depth analysis and understanding of this, read George Lakoff’s Don’t Think of an Elephant.
